An important note for all-
With deep sadness, we announce the untimely death of one of our valued Advisory Board members, Prof. Harshana Rambukwella on 21 April 2025. He was always keen to help us whenever we approached him and his sudden death left us dejected and created a void which shall be difficult to fill. Professor Anjali Daimari of Gauhati University who was very closely associated with Prof. Rambukwella has written an obituary for him.
16 September 1974 - 21 April 2025

Harshana Rambukwella, a comparative literature and cultural studies scholar with an interest in the intersections between literature, history, aesthetics, and nationalism in South Asia, was known for his scholarship, unwavering commitment to nurturing Sri Lankan literature and made an impact in the wider literary community. A former Director at Postgraduate Institute of English (PGIE), Sri Lanka and Trustee of the Graetiaen Trust he was a Professor at New York University, Abu Dhabi when he passed away untimely in his workplace. Rambukwella is the author of the Politics and Poetics of Authenticity (UCL Press 2018). He leaves behind his wife and two daughters, his parents and his brother’s family. We at Gauhati University have been closely associated with Prof. Harshana Rambukwella since 2012, when he joined us as a Resource Person for the International Seminar on Contemporary South Asian Seminar with its focus on Sri Lanka. Since then, he has visited Department of English, Gauhati University for a workshop for PhD Research Scholars and has always been available for any program online or offline in various parts of Assam in different colleges and Universities. A very amiable person, in spite of his other academic commitments he could always be reached for any advice or consultation or when we needed writers or academics from Sri Lanka. He readily agreed to be in the advisory board of this journal Noesis Literary and we will miss his guidance. We pray for the eternal rest of his soul and offer our deepest sympathies and condolences to his family.
