About Noesis Literary
Noesis Literary is an international biannual blind peer-reviewed multidisciplinary online journal covering diverse subjects ranging from the fields of humanities to social sciences which was launched in the year 2024. Published by the Department of English, Nowgong Girls' College, the journal is dedicated to promoting Interdisciplinary scholarly research on humanities and social sciences for disseminating critical interventions on issues related to society, culture, and the human condition. The complexities of the contemporary human condition cannot be comprehended from a singular, insular, and totalizing position; rather an Interdisciplinary approach to address the power relation of socio-cultural discursive formations should constitute the central axis of research in the fields of humanities and social sciences. We, therefore, encourage scholars to engage in Interdisciplinary perspectives in areas related to society, culture, human and beyond. We invite scholarly articles from researchers, teachers, and students highlighting high standards of research on areas deserving of critical interventions in contemporary times.

We actively collaborate with prominent national and international academics, fostering a global network of scholars dedicated to advancing research in humanities and social sciences.
Peer Review Policy
Noesis Literary is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly integrity and academic quality. To this end, the journal operates a rigorous blind peer review process. The peer review system, supported by editorial oversight, is central to the journal’s mission of disseminating credible, original, and significant interdisciplinary research in the humanities and social sciences.
This policy applies to all manuscripts submitted for publication and describes the journal’s commitment to peer review, the procedures followed, and the responsibilities of all parties involved.
Commitment to Peer Review and Editorial Oversight
Noesis Literary is dedicated to ensuring that all scholarly content it publishes is subject to robust quality control. All primary research articles submitted to the journal are subject to external peer review by independent subject experts who are not members of the journal’s editorial team and who are affiliated with institutions other than that of the author. In addition, all content published by the journal is subject to editorial oversight by the Editor, who is responsible for upholding the academic and ethical standards of the journal.
No manuscript is accepted for publication on the basis of editorial assessment alone; primary research articles must successfully complete external peer review before a final decision is made.
Type of Review: Blind (Anonymous)
The journal follows a blind peer review model, in which the identities of both the author(s) and the reviewer(s) are withheld from each other throughout the review process. To preserve anonymity:
• The main manuscript must not carry the name, affiliation, or any identifying credentials of the author in any form, in accordance with the journal’s Submission Guidelines.
• Author details (name, institutional affiliation, email, contact number, ORCID ID, and bio-note) are submitted as a separate document and are not shared with reviewers.
• Reviewers’ identities are not disclosed to authors at any stage.
This model is designed to ensure that manuscripts are evaluated solely on their scholarly merit, free from bias related to the identity, institution, nationality, gender, or seniority of the author.
The Review Process
1. Submission and Acknowledgement
Manuscripts are submitted by email to the editorial office. Receipt of each submission is acknowledged.
2. Editorial Pre-Screening (Desk Review)
On receipt, each manuscript undergoes an initial editorial assessment by the Editor to verify that it:
• falls within the aim, scope, and interdisciplinary focus of the journal;
• conforms to the Submission Guidelines (length of 4,000–6,000 words, abstract of up to 250 words, minimum of five keywords, MLA Handbook 9th edition formatting, anonymised main text, and required supporting documents);
• is accompanied by a plagiarism report (generated through Drillbit, Urkund, or Turnitin, with the report URL/ID) and an AI-detection report, both of which are verified by the editorial office in line with UGC-recommended guidelines on plagiarism;
• is an original, unpublished work accompanied by the author’s declaration of originality.
Manuscripts that fall outside the journal’s scope, fail to meet ethical or formatting requirements, or show unacceptable levels of plagiarism or unattributed AI-generated content may be rejected at this stage without being sent for external review. Authors are informed of desk-rejection decisions.
3. Assignment to External Reviewers
Manuscripts that pass the pre-screening stage are anonymised and assigned to an external reviewer with recognised expertise in the relevant subject area. Reviewers are selected on the basis of their scholarly expertise and are independent of the author and of the journal’s editorial team.
4. Evaluation by Reviewers
Reviewers evaluate each manuscript against criteria including:
• originality and significance of the contribution;
• relevance to the journal’s interdisciplinary scope;
• soundness of argument, methodology, and theoretical framework;
• engagement with relevant scholarship and quality of references;
• clarity, structure, and coherence of writing;
• adherence to academic and ethical standards.
Reviewers submit a confidential, reasoned report together with a recommendation.
5. Reviewer Recommendations
Each reviewer recommends one of the following outcomes:
• Accept — suitable for publication as submitted, or with minor editorial changes.
• Minor Revisions — publishable subject to small corrections that do not require re-review.
• Major Revisions — requires substantial revision and re-submission for a further round of review.
• Reject — not suitable for publication in the journal.
6. Editorial Decision
The Editor considers the reviewers’ reports and recommendations and communicates a decision to the author based on a careful reading of the reports. The final decision rests with the Editor.
7. Revision and Resubmission
Where revisions are required, authors are expected to address the reviewers’ comments and to resubmit the revised manuscript, accompanied by a response detailing the changes made. Papers are published only after the modifications suggested by the reviewer(s) have been satisfactorily incorporated and the completed manuscript has been returned by the author, consistent with the journal’s stated practice.
8. Final Acceptance and Publication
Once a manuscript is accepted, it proceeds to copy-editing, assignment of a DOI (the journal is Crossref and DOI indexed), and publication in the relevant biannual issue.
Indicative Timeline
The journal endeavours to complete the review process within a reasonable period. As an indicative guide, authors may expect an initial editorial decision following pre-screening within two to three weeks of submission, and completion of the external review process within approximately eight to twelve weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the volume of submissions. Timelines may vary, and authors are kept informed of the status of their manuscripts.
Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers are expected to:
• treat all manuscripts as confidential documents and not to share, discuss, or use them for any purpose other than review;
• conduct reviews objectively, constructively, and without personal criticism of the author;
• declare any conflict of interest and decline to review where impartiality cannot be assured;
• alert the Editor to any ethical concerns, including suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, or substantial overlap with previously published work;
• complete reviews within the agreed timeframe or notify the Editor promptly if unable to do so.
Author Responsibilities
Authors are expected to:
• submit original, unpublished work that is not under consideration elsewhere;
• ensure their manuscript is fully anonymised and complies with the Submission Guidelines;
• provide accurate plagiarism and AI-detection reports and a signed declaration of originality;
• acknowledge all sources and avoid any form of academic misconduct;
• respond constructively to reviewers’ comments and complete revisions within the stipulated time.
Confidentiality
All manuscripts and associated correspondence are treated as confidential throughout the review process. Editor and reviewers must not disclose any information about a submission to anyone other than those involved in the review and editorial process.
Publication Ethics and Misconduct
Noesis Literary is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and to taking all possible measures against misconduct. This statement sets out the ethical principles and expected conduct of all parties involved in the act of publishing in the journal: the editor, the advisory board, peer reviewers, authors, and the publisher, the Department of English, Nowgong Girls’ College, Nagaon, Assam, India.
The journal’s ethical framework is informed by the recommendations and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and follows the UGC-recommended guidelines on plagiarism applicable in India. All those involved in the publication process are expected to abide by these principles.
Manuscripts found to involve plagiarism, unattributed AI-generated content, data fabrication, duplicate submission, or other forms of misconduct are rejected. Where misconduct is identified after publication, the journal takes appropriate corrective action, which may include the issuance of a correction or the retraction of the article.
Appeals and Complaints
Authors who wish to appeal an editorial decision may write to the editorial office, setting out the grounds for the appeal. The Editor will consider the appeal and, where appropriate, may seek further independent review. Decisions on appeals are final.
